return pump mounting... bolted or not?

I'm trying to reduce the noise and vibration of my return pump on my setup...just wondering what most people do. I have a reeflo goby plumbed with 1.5" flex pvc from my basement sump to my tank in my living room directly above. The sump sits on a shelf built into the floor support I had built for the tank.

Try putting some rubber pads under the pump to dampen the vibration. You get the mats the sell for garage and sometimes for kids play areas at Home depot. Or bulk reef supply sells rubber blocks especially for this.

Head over to a plumbing or Hvac supply house. they shoud have a thick block of rubber for mounting hvac outside. thats what i did and it works awesome. you can see it in my profile pictures. I used alum. screws and that went into the hard rubber. If you bolt it all the way into the wood you will have noise from that.

Thanks for the suggestions I forgot to mention that the pump is currently sitting on 1/4" rubber sheet (neoprene like material) and a piece of 1/2" foam. Philyfishguy doesn't the hard rubber just vibrate on top of the wood?
