rocks
i have a question on rock placement.
i have a 90 gal tank 72 long 12 deep and i think 22 or 24 tall. i know that the standard is 1 to 1.5 pounds per gal. with a tank this long what would the best way to place the rocks. i know its a matter of preference. i would like to get the best circulation and flow. it will have a variety of coral and fish. 2 mountains on the left and right or mountain in the middle. i just want to build it once and not have to tear it apart in the future for doing it wrong. id like to have a few shades areas i think to place things that do not want a lot of light. places for the shrimp to call home. thanks for any suggestions feel free to post a pic if you have one of your set up. |

First of all I think people have way too much live rock in their tanks.
That said, try different configurations to see what pleases you. Also in design there's the Rule of Thirds.

its all preference, you just want flow in all areas, set it up and see if it pleases your eye, trial and error, also, unless your stocking alot of fish , you cant have too much live rock
