Coral banded and pistol shrimp (stocking list)

Will these two differnet shrimp be able to live in the same together? I have a 29g right now with two clowns with a cuc of hermits and other snails. I hope to add both these shrimp, a yellow watchman goby, a purple firefish, and maybe a feather duster.

So to sum it up a stocking list of:

2 clownfish
1 purple firefish,
1 yellow watchman goby/pistol shrimp pair
1 coral banded shrimp
CUC, feather duster
Not sure on the coral route yet.

I don't recommend adding a coral banded shrimp. They get very aggressive as they get larger and have been known to catch and eat fish and other inverts.

Yeah I just read some things like that. Oh well I like them but I like my fish more. Guess it's just the YWG/shrimp pair.

Any word on the firefish/YWG in same tank. Some places say they are in the same family, others say they are different.

Those two fish will be compatible. The yellow watchman goby rarely strays far from the burrow that the pistol will make, while the firefish is a mid water swimmer/hoverer.

I recently started up a 28g Nano. I first added my Yellow Watchman Goby and juevenile Pistol Shrimp to it (had them in quarantine to watch the YWG and had the pistol in there so that they could pair up). As soon as I put them in, the Pistol bull dozed under a rock and haven't seen him since (been about a week). I am hopeful he will come out sooner or later. A few days after that, I added a Purple Firefish (Beautiful fish...highly recommend it), and the two get along great. They even share the hole under the rock that the Pistol Shrimp dug.

As for the Coral Banded Shrimp, I would reccomend against it for that small of a tank. I recently traded off one that I had in my DT (75g). He was a cool shrimp, but agressive and would take swipes at my fish. All my fish new to leave him alone (my Yellow Tang liked to mess with him, which was entertaining), but a few weeks ago I added some cleaner shrimp. He attacked the Cleaner Shrimp, so he had to go. Your fish wouldn't have enough room to hide in a 28g.

Good Luck on whatever you choose!

Looks good, I have a YWG, tiger pistol shrimp, firefish, and citron goby together with no problems. You are gonna love watching the shrimp dig while the YWG keeps a lookout.
