overflow issues

why does the water keep moving up and down on the overflow. it seems it tries to drain then it moves right back up. is there a solution?

Sounds like you don't have enough air in your drain. Google "durso standpipe". A pic of your drain would really help.

+1 ^ It's creating a siphon, then sucks in water until siphon breaks and then builds up enough water until it starts the cycle again.

Need to know how you have the standpipes/drain/overflow set up.

drain pipe is on the right of the overflow. the return is on the left.
i am using flexible tubing to drain to sump. hopes this is what you wanted.

This is usually caused by inadequate air venting in the standpipe. Drill out the anti-siphon hole in the top of the standpipe that's having the surging problem. Do it in 1/16 increments until the flushing stops.

Does it look like this? Probably not, but this would fix it. In each one, and run a single return up over the back. Called a "herbie"

Do you have a hole in the top of your drain pipe? If so, is it clogged?

I am going to agree with everyone else and say it has to do with the sihpon. I would either drill one bigger hole or a couple smaller holes. I have a durso standpipe and it took 8 or 10 1/16" holes to get the water to airflow mixture right for mine to work properly. Good luck
