Can you id this?

I got this as a freebie in a trade , it was kind of brownish red all over but now it has bright green centers. I believe it to be some sort of brain, but what exactly is it? It's on a frag plug now, but how and where should I mount it for maximum growth? Thanks.

Looks like a red favia. I forget the designer name it's called when it has that color pattern...

looks like a red favia ^ +1
waterflow - medium
lighting - semi strong/moderate
the placement is really anywhere but i have had the best luck with them half way up the tank.

p.s the only reason that it did not have the green spots before is because it was not opened up.
... It is a really nice lps

Hope this helped

Favites pentagona. The care and placement marinecritters listed is pretty accurate for this species.

Thanks everyone, I'm going to mount it on a frag cookie and move it up a little off of the sandbed and see how it does.
