Cloudy Water

hey guys our tank has been down about 3 yrs and we are trying to get it back up, water was clear yesterday after 2 days of intial start up now very cloudy any suggestions or help appreacited

Try running either a mechanical filter with something to catch Debris, or adding a filter sock to your sump if you're able to.

My guess is you've got loose junk floating around in the water.

that could be a bacterial bloom.. although it seems a bit early to have one

Does the cloudiness have a green tint to it when they lights are on, or is it more white?

The pic below is of a tank the a friend of mine recently started. It started getting cloudy about 2 weeks after starting the tank. After weeks of trying to figure out why his tank was so cloudy he determined that he had some sort of algae growing in the water column. To remedy it, he ran a UV sterilizer. The tank cleared up after 2 days, he took the UV sterilizer out of the tank and it's been clear ever since.

Probably bacterial. Give it some time and it should work itself out.

If it lasts more than a week or so, a UV sterilizer will clear it up whether it is bacterial or algae. Usually overnight.
