new qt tqnk

hi,

just installed a new qt tankl, 65 reef ready with a 20 gall sump. i fill with about 30 + gallons from my dt and the rest with new sea mix. my ? is will this cycle like a new setup with the dt water. it has been set up for over a week. has refug, skimmmer, 250 mh fixture,. the lfs has been holding a few corals and a clam for me. would like to get them in the qt. chemistry is spot on. any help would be greatfull. thanks roy

If there is no rock or sponge or anything beside the water form the display tank, it will need to cycle again. What filtration were you going to run on this?

There is no live rock, it has a protien skimmed,and a refuge with some Marco, 5 inch sand bed in refuge.

yeah you will have to cycle it unless like humu said you brought some sponges or something from the DT for bio filtration.

sounds like its gonna be a kick *** QT none the less

Thanks, I do have some live rock in my Sump , maybe about 10 lbs, maybe more.. its going to be a nice qt. It even put my old ac3 on it. I have web access too. Was hoping to have this cycle faster, may need tell the lfs to sell the stock.

nah to lazy , just wanted a nice qt. my old was a 20 long, was to small and it could not handle a very large bioload. plus a friend of mine had a pile of equipment in his storage locker. hooked me up good. basiclly i had to buy the tanks and skimmer. light,ballast,bulbs,returnpump,heater,vortech mp 10, plus a few other odd and ends he gave me. cost was minamal to set it up.

web cam access will be killer. man i wish i had that on my QTs. thats a good idea!
