Show us your filter socks.

Are they mesh or felt?

Before or after the skimmer?

How often do you clean them and with what?

Anyone do DIY hook-ups?

I need to find a way to use filter socks on my sump/stock tank because the rim is really thick and I might go to bio-pellets and would need a sock after the skimmer.

Whenever the water gets halfway in the sock and I clean them with the garden hose.

Here's a shot of my main sump. I use felt, after skimmer, washer/bleach every 3-5days.

I use mesh, way easier to clean. I just spray them out with the sprayer on the sink. I clean every few days.

Felt before the skimmer, replace every 3 days.

Significantly diffuses bubbles to a point where I don't need dividers in the sump.

200 Micron mesh, right at drain into sump before skimmer, hand wash in sink once a week. Mesh makes hand washing really really easy. I have a front loader wash machine and it always seems to have detergent residue.

I used to have a holder but now I have a much bigger skimmer and it doesn't fit so I just hang the filter sock into place. Just make sure one end is lower then the lip of the tank otherwise it could flow out of the tank if it gets clogged up enough.

I'm currently not running one but I'm setup to use one before the skimmer when necessary.

i run mine intermittently kinda like carbon...it catches any copopods than make it around..as well as the dirt..a lot of the stuff in your tank feeds on the little partials floating around..

i should see if i can find a mesh one to catch the big stuff

Just finished this for my 240. One overflow goes through the socks the other does not.

I use 200 and have to change once a week. I guess having more socks will make it better.
