Cloudy Water
I have a 20 gallon tank with 2 Ocellaris Clowns and a Whelk snail. Bare bottom with some 2" PVC fittings on the bottom for shelter.
Have a HOB filter (with a filter sponge, & a bag of some carbon and a little GFO). Also have a korilla powerhead and a heater. Added the first clown about 2 months ago. Added the 2nd clown and snail about 2 weeks ago. Ammonia, Nitrites = 0 Nitrates, Phosphates = close to 0 I don't have a test kit to test for Mg, Ca or KH. The water is a cloudy white milky looking color. Suspect it might be Ca or bacteria?? It ha been this way since I added the new clown and snail. Not sure what to do? |

Do you have a skimmer? I have a 20gal , very similar, my skimmer keeps my water crystal clear. Also, when did you change your carbon last? Maybe it could use a change, don't forget to rinse it!

No skimmer since it is really just a temp tank until i get my 120 up and running. (This 20 will become my quarantine after my main tank is setup).
Fresh carbon change this past weekend and it was rinsed before being put in the HOB filter. |

Do 50%, add the skimmer, how much carbon are you using? is the carbon in the path off the water flow or is it just sitting at the bottom of the HOB?

Skimmer is a SRO2000. It is meant for my large tank. Can't put it in my 20 gallon. Carbon is on top of HOB in direct flow. Already did the 100% change. All is well and clear for now. |
