Skimmer Pump Not Working

I have a Marineland 100 in sump skimmer, I think it's model MSPS100. Anyways, the skimmer would occasionally get a piece of chaeto stuck in the intake. I thought this was the case the last time it stopped working as I pulled the skimmer out to check, but it was not. I took it all apart, cleaned the impeller and pump but I still can't get it to work, it's not pumping. The impeller spins but doesn't push any water. Any ideas how I can fix it: replace the impeller or replace the pump? I've tried all the powerhead tricks I know without success.

I have never liked their skimmer pumps. Seemed like they were always having start up issues.

If you remove the pump from the skimmer does it work? Make sure there are no clogs. Also start it in the air and then submerge it.

Yeah, I tried all of that. Cleaned it all up and tried it out of the body. I'll try it again though, sometimes they just start working.
