Question Kenya Trees as Filters

I have heard that some people keep Kenya trees in their fuge as live filters, is this something worth doing and what are the drawbacks/risks?

I've heard of the same with Xenia and even aptasia anemones. With the latter you probably want to have a natural aptasia predator in your display. The basic idea no matter what animal is that you routinely harvest and discard the growth, thereby exporting excess nutrients.

IMO, it sounds like more trouble than it's worth. I much rather just shell out the cash and buy a good skimmer.
