Skimmer not skimming?
Ok tank has had water for 2 weeks I have fed it ammonia to .2ppm 3 times.
40G Long 20lbs of cured live rock (came from a local reefers sump was out of water maybe 45 mins) 20lbs marco rocks 30lbs reef grade sand 10lbs live sand (the bagged stuff) no livestock besides some mushrooms aand algae on the LR ac110 with carbon, phosphate reducing media and floss lights on 6-8 hrs/day Current test results show the tank is pretty much cycled with 0 ammo, 0 nitrite and nitrates around 30. I have an SWC Mini HoT skimmer that isn't pulling anything out of the tank. I bought the skimmer only to find out it was the display model and had no manual. Well the thing looks simple enough. I think it is likely I just have to adjust it properly, but the only adjustment is the cup height. Do I just lower the cup so that it at least pulls something out? Do I not worry about it yet (sskimmer has been going since the tank was filled)?

Your prolly not going to skim anything since its a new tank and no livestock

not till u have bio load in ur tank and organic meterials that need to be skimmed out.
