Question so, after i added the shrimp?

after i added a dead shrimp to the tank to get the cycle going(left it in there for about 2.5 days). after the ammonia got to a good spot i took the dead shrimp out... but about two days later the tank began to become very foggy?

is this normal?

time to start testing. Rather than shrimp, which stink, I prefer to use a few daily flakes of fishfood. Start doing that now and test daily. When you can add that fishfood for five days straight without seeing ammonia, and after the water clears, you are able to buy a fish, put it in a bare quarantine tank, do a 10% water change, and buy some cleanup crew of hermits and snails, and let them get to work. For an experienced reefer, the hardier corals could also go in, but best get your handful of beginner mistakes out of the way: be sure to test, now: test your ammonia for a while, to be sure; and start testing for alkalinity, calcium, and magnesium and salinity. Good parameters are in my sig line. Track alk rather than ph. More useful. After the CUC has worked for four weeks, your fish will be ready and disease and parasite free. TRACK SALINITY and mark a fill line. Keep it even. You will want an ATO (auto top off) and small pump to deliver fresh water to the system every few hours in most tanks. And if this is too much info too fast, read the stickies above!

Not much point in testing Ca and Mg at this point.
