Question on skimmers.....help me pick!
I am starting a 75 gallon tank with 30 gallon sump. Due to size limitations, I have narrowed down to these skimmers:
SWC Extreme 120 SWC Extreme BMK 150 Bubble Magus NAC6a If it were to be worth the extra 60 or so dollars, I would also consider the SWC Extreme 160. I was hoping you folks might have some experience with these and point me in right direction. Oh, and it being a quiet skimmer would be a nice bonus. Thanks in advance for the help!! |

i would go with the SWC xtreme BMK 150 it is alittle overkill but overkill is never a bad thing imo. and if it is in your price range and fits your footprint you need i would go with this http://www.aquacave.com/DIABLO-2500-...P3280C664.aspx

I am in the exact same boat you're in... I have been looking for a skimmer for my 90 gallon with only a 20 gallon sump with size limitations as well. I will keep an eye out for suggestions here

Thanks for the posts. I am now looking at the SWC 160. The footprint would work, just concerned it might be overkill for a 75 with a 30 gallon sump. And Matt I took a look at the Diablo. Not a bad price. I just dont think it'd fit my sump. My intake is only 7 3/4". Do you think its worth rebuilding the sump for? The SWC 160 I was looking at is only about 30 bucks less.

Don't worry with the overkill. The bigger the better and chances are you will eventually get a bigger tank.

Flame suit on, but I've actually read post here on RC advocating the most expensive nutrient stripping skimmer money can buy, then later these same folks advocating dosing nutrients back in....
I'm not saying there isn't some logic in the above ideology, but ... Quote:
