I started mine out at 17%W 30%B and RB for a few weeks then started ramping them up about 5% more every 3-6 days until I am now at 45%W and about 75% B/RB.
don't know if you can run it without controller. All my frags came from tanks with 250w halides. So far all my sps look great. I noticed a few of my zoanthids lost their bright green skirts and now just appear to have a yellowish skirt. Green slimer went from light almost yellowish green to a shade darker but just as bright. Red planet went from mostly pink/red to mostly green with spots of red and red polyps. looks awesome! |

I was mistaken on my %'s. I looked at it last night and I was up to 80% on the blues and 68% on the whites. No sign of any bleaching as I've slowly ramped everything up over the course of a few months. I went ahead and bumped my blues up to 84% and the whites to 70% last night.
My sps is growing great. I've got most of it situated directly under the light about 4" under the surface of the water. My light hangs about 6ish inches above the water. I plan on increasing everything till I start to see any problems then I'll back it off. I did notice that my tri color zoas have lost more color in their skirts. I think they looked great at lower intensities. I will probably have to move them under a shaded area. |

You can run it without a controller. All colors will be on full power though. Just start slow and increase weekly by no more than 5-10%. I'm up at 90% blues and 85% whites at peak.
