monster clam can't stop growing!
If this keeps up, it's going to outgrow my 225 gallon reef aquarium!

I got the clam two years ago. It's grown tremendously since then. The earliest pic that I have of this clam is on the front page of my website:
http://home.rochester.rr.com/garysreef This clam has a weird anomaly on it's mantle. It appears to be a second 'false' exhalent siphon. Does anyone know anything about these things?

Here's a pic of the same Leopard wrasse in front of the clam now. There's a ruler at the bottom of the pic for size comparison.

I've read that a second, false siphon is an anomaly caused by a previous injury to the mantle that occurs close to the original siphon. I know a good plastic surgeon in Manhattan who can take care of that for you - no clam should have to go through life looking like that.

Gary,
Your Squamosa is spectacular even if it does have two nipples I agree that it probably resulted from the previous injury to the mantle. Should not be a concern unless you were planing to enter it in a beauty contest.

Ah, you guys are too much!
Top down shots of my clam and reef are on my "honey-do" list, but NOT my wife's. I plan on taking some, as soon as I'm done fixing up a few things around the house...
