Question Have a 25g Sump for my 75g, need a protien skimmer and pump, advice?

Hello everyone,

I have the opportunity to buy a euro-reef rs-180 for my 75 gal with 25 gal sump, is this a good protein skimmer for my tank? Also, need a pump for my refugium, as mentioned 75g tank 25g sump.. will a eheim 1260 do the trick? I want it to run as silent as possible. thanks

The Rs 180 is a good skimmer but I don't think it's going to fit into a 25gal tank. It may also be a bit over sized for your needs. As far as a return pump, That really depends on a lot of factors and You may want to consult the head loss calculator on the homepage of RC. If you have a standard tank with the sump under the stand then I suspect that the 1260 would be a good pump for that setup. The 1262 may also be worth considering.

I don't mean to hijack the thread but I'm new and setting up a 29 gallon reef with a 10 gallon sump. I was also wondering what return pump I should get and what skimmer I should get. I don't know if I should do a fuge or not do to space, any opinion or advice helps guys. Thanks in advance.

Get a SC150 from ebay! there is a huge thread about it on here somewhere and I decided to buy one and it works perfectly and was pretty cheap. Just a suggestion

Both will work.

The RS 180 is a little big, and pricey. Depending on price and room in your sump you may be better off getting a newer skimmer like the Sea Side Aquatics CS7 or the SRO XP1000SSS which have smaller footprints.
