Just ordered a 16 gallon Nuvo in black!
A far cry from this old tank:
But I'm excited to set it up and provide pics for you guys along the way... Earnest building probably won't start till mid June when school is out. It hopefully will have softies, a clown, and a goby/shrimp pair. |

Grabbed a small heater and a Koralia Nano powerhead. Have about 6lbs of dead rock from the aforementioned 75 that was broken down years ago (it was Tampa Bay Liverock). Will add about 15-20lbs live sand and 15lbs Tampa Bay Liverock.... Pics as they come.

I'm going to follow too, as I think I want to upgrade to a nuvo 38 by this September when I move.

I just moved everything out my JBJ 12gal that I had up for over a year for a Nuvo 16gal this past weekend. It's been a great purchase, I'm glad I got it.
Livestock: 2 Clowns 1 Bicolor Blenny 1 Peppermint Shrimp 1 Pom-Pom Crab 1 Emerald Crab Few other misc snails and little crabs Few random corals, nothing fancy yet Equipment: 1 Stock pump to one of the returns, 1 Maxi-Jet 900 to the other return Heater that I don't remember the model of Stock 14k lighting |

Tank on stand next to couch. Papers under stand are warranty papers/manuals that do not yet have a home. 16 watts of LED lighting. Three-stage filtration setup. Won't stay this way forever... there are two of these: one per overflow/side. Side view with Koralia Nano power head. Ignore the medical equipment. Strip plug arrives tomorrow... then we'll get it wet to see how well it all works/looks! |

Just ordered the timers... had to wait to see what the plugs looked like to ensure clearance.

You fire up the lights yet? I have heard they aren't strong enough for some of the more demanding SPS. I was looking at either this or the pico aquarium tanks.
Very slick looking tank though. |

I like the lights a lot, seem very bright to me - though I plan on keeping softies only.... One of the 8 moonlight LEDs isn't firing... the shop is going to get me another one. Nice tank... gotta love when they're level on the first get go! The pumps are very quiet, too.

Very slick looking tank, can't wait to see it up and running. Will you have a sump?

No, that's why I went with this tank... I want an AIO without all the plumbing and annoyance of sumps and all that

Timers are here, saltwater is in the tank... thinking about getting the rock on Thursday after work... drop it in and let it sit over the weekend then start scaping and figuring out what I want to do next week in the evenings (I'm gone over Memorial Day weekend).

I acid-bathed my old dead rock that I'll be using, and ordered 25lbs live rock and 15lbs live sand from Tampa Bay Saltwater. He's going out on Wednesday to get it, and I'm picking it up Thursday... Could it get any fresher?!

I was going to suggest you to clean those rocks, but you got it covered.
I dipped a couple in a vinegar bath and the smell and crap that came off of them was crazy. Stuck them in a bucket with saltwater and a heater for a good 3 weeks while a bunch of other crap came off.

Following along Jay. Our builds are only a couple days apart so it will be interesting to see the progression as we go.
I really like this tank and it's design. It seems a lot larger than my JBJ 12g for some reason. maybe it's just how it looks in the photos. What are you doing with your old tank and why did you switch over to nano? |

I switched over to nano for the convenience/cost. The 75 was fine between undergrad and grad school, but when grad school started I had to break it down due to cost and time. I kept the 75 from about 2001-2007. It's now in mom's garage if anyone's interested in purchasing Lights, stand, drilled tank! The nano is just a smaller, easier to deal with tank for me... Grad school's all done and I want something that won't be all-consuming.
