Question my first alk test on the system

I tested the system for the first time for alk it read 286.4 on the tester 16 drops before it turned yellow is that to high, my ph is at around 8.2,8.4ppm's calcium yesterday was at 420 ppm's

What kind of test are yo using? How long has the tank been running? Whats your magnesium at?

test kit is API/the tank is been running now for about 60 days after the crash but to tell you the truth first time I check for alk and haven't checked for mag have to go and buy a test kit a'm also debating about the b-ionic dozing that way all the correct ingredients are there

I wouldnt trust an API kit for alk. I used it....and just didnt seem consistent enough.

So I went out and bought the Red Sea Pro kit. Much easier to use. More accurate. And the reading was alot lower than the api kit.

sounds good I have to go to the lfs tomorrow i'll look into it what do you think about the b ionic or should I just go with the kalkwasser all a'm worried about is the alk when dozing lime water how do I keep it even
