Does Dry Rock from Marco Rocks leach?
I am planning on ordering dry rock from Marco Rocks. I have read that some dry rock leaches phosphates into the water. This being said about Pukani it seems more than others. As for Marco Rocks, I was curious; does their rock leach phosphates or other nutrients?
Thanks in advanced! |

Just cycled my 245 gal multi-tank system.. nearly 2 months in. Po4 tests are undetectable with test kit, and that was without running anything such as GFO since the rock hit water. I'm sure something would be detected with a more sensitive tool, such as a hanna tester, but if the test kit says 0, that is close enough to 0 for me to be content. I recently added a GFO reactor anyway, as I have been somewhat overfeeding the tank, a bit, to kick up biological filtration before I add more fish.

Thanks for the response gweston. Sounds better than the some of the readings I have heard about Pukani!
Any more experiences? |

I just started my 250 DD with 100 lbs of marco rock. I didn't do anything before hand, just put it in and added water. Now I wait. Nothing has happened yet, it's only been a few days. I'm about to throw in a shrimp.
gweston, did you seed with live sand or a piece of live rock? What did you use to start the cycle. |
