Question circulating pumps

I have a 30 gallon system with a 14 gallon sump right now I have one koralia nano 240 gph circulating pump want to add another one should I put the same or maybe a bit larger to increase the volume of water movement

That depends on a couple of things:

1. Do you have any other flow into the tank like a return from a sump?

2. What are you currently keeping in the tank?

3. What are you planning on keeping in the tank?

as a point of reverence, my 43 gallon has a mag 5 return pump (with head loss it is pushing about 350 GPH) and a koralia 1050....

Without knowing what your return pump is, I will guess you want more flow then the 240 will deliver.

I could be wrong, but I think remember the goal being 25-30X the tank volume being ideal for LPS tanks....

500/40 = 12.5

I believe you need more flow.

the problem is I have fuge and I don't know if its good to have to much flow going through it, live rock/ chaeto /live sand, thats the only reason that I haven't increased the flow through the DT and thinking of only adding movement but any ways do you have like a math way of getting the right amount of flow according to the gallons I saw you put some # but can't understand how you figured it out

adding a circulation pump in the tank (like a hydor koralia for example) will have no effect on the water flow thru the sump. The only pump affecting the water flow thru the fuge is the return pump.
