Sorry for your losses. :-(
Recommended 8 week fallow period to rid tank of ich...but ich is present in every captive fish really. Since its a small tank, I would dump the water and just start fresh. New cycle ect. Just curious, but what did you have stocked in there? |

I have been having the WORST time with fish since my new tank setup. They would be fine for a while, then go south. Then Id wait a while, get another fish. Same thing. It turns out I had loose current in my tank. I didnt even realize it until I was barefoot and had a cut on my finger. I stuck my hand in the tank and ZAP. So I installed a grouning probe and all has been fine since. Always a posibility

What are the chemistry parameters? I have had good luck soaking food in garlic, this does not rid ICH but does boost fish immunity.

How many total fish did you have in that tank? I know you had clowns, a Tang, a Butterfly...what else? You had way too many fish for a 30 gallon tank that was probably not able to handle the filtration needs, based on your other posts.

I have a 30 gallon myself and I stopped loosing fish because my tank matured (6 months), got fish from a better source and overall got more experience. Also I have been avoiding overstocking my tank. I keep one Occelleris clown, one Coral Beauty and a Diamond goby.
Also Tangs, Butterflyfish should be in large tanks like 55-75 gallons and up depending on species. Keep your tank fallow for 8 weeks if you don't want ich and quarantine all new fish with proper precautions. There are stickies on the forum on these things. If you want to live with Ich, it can be done if you stock appropriately. |
