fish adding order

If i put only fish that are considered semi aggressive in my tank does it matter what order they are in?

Yes, most of the time it does. What fish are you considering?

In general the least aggressive and smallest fish go in first moving towards the largest and most aggressive. Knowing what specific fish you plan on keeping will help refine the order.

If one mouth is bigger than the other, you are doing it wrong

That is, if you are adding equally agressive fish.

Way too many variables until you have a potential stock list and tank size, etc.

I believe he has a 40 gallon that planning to be a FOWLR. As for fish, I know he was looking at "some" pair of clowns and a valentini puffer...not sure if that has changed since his other thread though lol.

If a pair of mated clowns is going into a 40; they'd better be the last fish added. Mated clowns go after any new fish.

Juvis are usually OK, but a mature mated pair is another story. many folks underestimate the territorial behavior of clown pairs. (And many mature clowns. Especially females; as most older, single clowns are.)

If the clowns are symbiotic to something, that usually contains their aggression to that area of the tank. My Clarki pair (she is between 3 and 4 inches) were hosted with a frogspawn. When I moved, I got rid of all of my corals and went fowler. She is definitely one of the biggest aggressors in my tank, but now its everywhere, not just "defending her territory" which used to be right around the frogspawn.

A prepared stock list will not only help you manage aggression in your tank. It will help you manage the bio load up front and give your fish a less stressful environment all around.
