Q? For those that keep a running qt tank

So up until now i have broken down my qt tank after each fish has been added to the display and im toying with the idea of keeping it running for new corals etc that up until now have been dipped and put right in the display and to reduce the chance of it cycling with a new fish. Right now i have the tank heater thermometer light pvc fittings and filter with a sponge from the display. what do i need to do to keep it running? do i need to feed bacteria until the next fish or coral is added? lots of threads of new qt setups but i didnt see anything on long term qt set ups any tips are welcome

I kept a small QT up for a few years. It was in reality a mini reef tank (15 gallons). I kept the tank set-up with live rock, a few soft corals and a clean-up crew. I would ghost feed the tank whenever it didn't house fish. I did have to set up a separate hospital tank for treatment if the fish ever showed signs of disease (this only occurred twice during a three year span) and then leave the QT tank without fish for a 6 week span. I never had an issue with coral disease, but I go through a series of dips with all my corals.

I have a sponge in my DT that I toss in the QT before I add fish. It has worked great for me thus far. I always keep my QT's running as well and it has gone about 6 weeks before without any fish in it.
