Hermit crabs grow out of shell?
I have 3 hermit crabs, should i be suppling them with larger shells incase they outgrow the shell there in? I keep finding finding empty snail shells.

Thats why some people hate them. as they grow they will kill snails in search of a bigger home unless you supply empty ones to grow into (even that isn't a guarantee)

May sound silly, but I used these guys back when I had a horde of blue legs:
http://www.seashells.com/assortseashells.htm They sell them by the gallon (2 kilograms) cheap and you get to pick the size. Most will be useless but they should like some of the spiral ones.

Here are my 2 Blues, going for the same shell....BUSTED
They must have switched shells, 3 times each, since I bought them. The one in the pink shell, originally came with that, switched and went back to it last week. My friend gave me a supply of medium shells for them. I cleaned them up & dropped them in the tank.

Do they max out in size? I have one blue leg like in the picture, that's in a shell the size of my thumb. He's huge.

I had a "dry land" (don't know the correct term) one that was in a shell almost the size of my fist. And he needed every bit of that shell. I don't know what kind of shell it was but it was a sprial shape with several spikes and/or horns on it. Dude was armor plated and battle ready!! One serious crab.
