First Post - Hi Guys - New Frag Tanks
Hi Guys, First Post here!
After having a local fish store here in Orlando, FL set up my Red Sea Max S650, I decided to set up a couple smaller tanks on my own for growing coral. The tanks are still cycling and I can't wait to start adding coral. I'm thinking of getting some things from Jason Fox and Sexy Corals. This weekend I set up the Radion lights, Vortech Pumps, and an Apex AquaController. I am still learning a lot, but absolutely love this hobby! |

Are there concerns with LED growing coral? I've heard different things...

Gotcha. Regarding Sexy Corals.... I wouldn't do business with retailers who so clearly alter the coloration(vibrance) of their coral pictures. It's too obvious and seems misleading. But thats just me.

Thanks AJ!
Why would you recommend 70%? Is the issue with the hardware or the corals/fish? |

LED lighting will grow coral no problem! Radion lights in the natural mode will be to powerful for new coral, take your time and acclimate

Just based on your pics... I'd say 70% max spectrum, and thats pushing it. Radions are potent. When I converted over from dual 250w 20k halides, I toasted several of my sps colonies/frags. LED's are brighter than they appear. Especially the light blue spectrum.
5 months in, I'm running mine at a maximum of 70% and not even full spectrum, and my tank is a lot deeper than your two 30 gallons or whatever they are.
