probably a stupid question, but... coral questions
I'm considering starting a 10 gal tank. i love love love the idea of clowns, and I already know a nem is out of the question in a 10. I do know also that clowns will sometimes host certain corals (or corals host the clowns... Not sure which is the official way to say it, I say both lol). My question is, I was trying to not have to splurge on a crazy expensive MH for such a small tank, when I go bigger, I will, but found a decently priced T5 for a 10 gal. Is this enough lighting for corals, or do I need MH? Thanks

T5 are just fine for corals. Many people use t5s. Also if you want a clown to host a coral , green star poly are good. i have seen many videos were clowns host green star p.

Same here right now LOL! Added a maroon clown to the 55, and she hasn't left the power heads yet. Kinda bummed, since we have a coral and nem to host her.
Thanks for all the tips everyone. I'm def doing a lot more research before I make a final decision. So far, looks like I'll only need to drop less than $100 for everything I need to get the tank running (plus any livestock)

Hammers and Frogspawns have always been a favorite of my Clowns. Some people say the clowns damage them, but personally I've never had any issues

^^ Thanks for some personal experience. I almost bought a hammer coral today (for the big tank) but decided against it due to the fact that ive heard fish can damage it. I also heard the coral can sting some fish?? Just heard that today, then had someone else say although it is possible, its not likely. Any ideas on that??

yes, corals can sting fish, when my frogspawn hoasted my clowns they would get a bunch of black dots on their bodies that were caused by the corals. although I am guessing it didn't hurt to much as they kept going in the coral.

My clown loves my outflow valve. We have two sets of frog spawn. Don't go near it. I think if you have an aqua cultured fish they may not accept coral. Thy were born with powerhead that's all they know
