If you are talking about standard flurescent lighting, then probably not. I have a standard light bulb on a tank I just cycled but mushrooms came on the rock and they are fine but I highly recommend getting PC or T5 lights. I plan on it myself, Im just letting the tank cycle for a few months.

On my bulb package it says it promotes zooxanthellae algae not sure what that is? And it says it promotes growth and well being off all photosynthetic corals and invertebrates?

I think you should do some reading on lighting and why and which one and what PAR is.
There is a reason in the saltwater hobby people use PC bulbs, metal halide, T5s and LEDs. Im not just making this up. |

Is this light on the 75 gallon or is this a different tank you are trying this on?
If the 75 gallon, nothing. I have similar lighting on a 75 freshwater tank and it can't grow anything but floaters. That doesn't really work in saltwater, so nothing. If you are doing this on a frag-style tank, you may be able to pull off some corals on the very low end of the light scale. |

So if I were to do t5 would I need a dual or quad bulb system?

If its a 75 gallon, I would go for 4 bulbs for a 75 if you dont plan on doing any SPS.

Unless they are high-output bulbs they likely will only keep them alive and not with good color, the only thing they will probably grow is algae.
Some research into what Zooxanthellae would be beneficial as well if your going to be keeping any corals.
