Just realized my sump is cracked...

So tonight I was cleaning the skimmer cup and doing a little sump maintenance and noticed that my sump is cracked. It doesn't really seem to be leaking any water and just has a bit of salt creep build up on it. I'm not sure how long it's been like that but I assume for a few weeks since I moved the tank about 3 weeks ago.

hmmmm what to do...?

I think you know the answer to this...

I wouldn't want something that water falls into to start leaking. Doing nothing is just asking for trouble.

You are a lucky duck. You could have had all your tank water on the floor. At least you caught it before this happened. Try duct tape, "i put that **** on everything." Joking. I guess it's time for a new sump.

With a crack that has salt creep on the outside, you have a crack that is leaking some water. I'd be hugely concerned that with one good bump you could have a big blow out and sump water everywhere. I'd change it yesterday!

Oh yeah you need a new one. You could use weld on 16 which is what they use to glue it together. Try a plastics company in your area.

Yikes, I would be at the store buying a new one now or ordering one online to ship red label. Not sure why you would be on here posting only to hear the big splash of the sump blowing up any second

Trigger system next for sure. I am ordering mine today

Can all the water from the display tank leak out? What's the worst case scenario here?

Yes.

Down to your whatever your "drain line" level is...

Plus, you can burn pumps that run dry, damage your flooring from water leaks, damage anything sitting below your sump. If it's near electric when it lets go (Not if) it can cause issues with your electrical systems. It'll damage anything on the floor on that same level (furniture, storage items, electronics, etc.)

Stop typing, get in the car, and drive to a pet store for a new glass tank. (Kidding, only kind of.)

Take it from a person who lost a 20G Frag Tank. It's a lot more water than it looks like; and it caused drywall damage, got my insulation on that wall wet, tripped a breaker because it hit an outlet, carpeting and pad being replaced, and fried a home theater sub in my basement (Thankfully a cheaper paradigm); I wish I had the notice you have.

Get something that holds water in there ASAP. That's what everyone is telling you; even if you may not want to do it... Run. Don't Walk. That thing is a time bomb.

You can get a piece of acrylic and weld it over the cracked piece. Like everyone says you better do something soon.
