glass anemone
got some kind of glass anemone, I removed all the live rock that had it and put them in my sump. It is not the "traditional" aiptasia but a close relative. There is a few more in my return wells. I am wondering if I can just rinse the live rock off with fresh water to rid me of them? This really multiples fast, and I just don't want them to take over my sump. Any ideas on treatment to live rock to rid me of them?

They will spread from your refugium to your DT so you do need to eradicate them. It sounds like they are so numerous already that manual removal is at best going to be difficult. Covering them with a thick kalk (pickling lime) paste works well as does injecting them with Joe's Juice or hot lemon juice. If there numbers are too large to deal with you may need to replace the rock.

What if I rinse the rock in fresh water? Or take the rock out and put in a fresh water bucket for a few days?

depending on size of infestation you have a couple options
manual -get a syringe from local pharmacy and lemon juice from produce department, manually inject the anenome with lemon juice will kill them instantly, can be done in the water, about .5 - 1 ml per anenome depending on size. natural -peppermint shrimp will eat glass anenomes and they will do it fast. i have one from experience that eradicated the aiptasia i brought into my tank from live rock. hope this helps but i wouldnt mess with replacing rock or paste, the injections or shrimp will kill it. also copper banded butterflys will eat them |

I recently bought some Berghia nudibranchs and they really did the trick on my aiptasia. The downfall to them is that once the aiptasia is all gone they will starve to death. At the same time though, from my understanding, they do not live long lifes anyway. I have also made a deal with a buddy of mine to give him the berghia once I am done with them.
