I haven't but I wouldn't. I'd stick with instant ocean always unless they were completely out

I've tried it for my FO tank a few years back. I didn't have any issues with it, but for my money, I would rather buy IO or reef crystals for piece of mind. I'm not sure I would use it with coral without testing the levels of Ca, Mg, and Alk.

Petco doesn't make it they jusy pay one of the mfgs. to put their label on it. If you could find out who actually makes it then mayby you could make a more informed decision. Also worth mentioning: is it possibly the stuff that didn't pass quality control at the facility? For example: Instant Ocean makes a batch but the numbers don't come up to specs. Somebody goofed on the recipe at the salt factory. I doubt the stuff is thrown in the trash. Mayby this is where the low price private label stuff comes from. Just a thought.
For the record, I've never used it. These are just a few of my thoughts on the subject. |

If the health and condition of the salt tanks at Petco is an indication of the quality of their salt, I would rum from it!!
Further, Petco has never been known for quality control.

It used to be made by aquatic gardens. It might still be for all I know. The levels tested pretty decently if I recall correctly. But I don't know much about the manufacturer.

I used a small batch once for water changes, no issues that I could see, I remember the calcium and something else tested a little low. I only used it for 1 or 2 water changes though, don't think I would use it exclusively.

Just looked on their web page - the petco brand salt comes out to about $0.27/gallon. Instant ocean is about $0.28/gallon. For $0.01 per gallon, I'd get the Instant Ocean.

You can probably get any of top brand online for a much better price. And considering the cost of the salt you get free shipping a lot of times. That is if you plan appropriately.
