Pretty marginal performance. If your bioload is not very high, it would work, but there are much better HOB skimmers. Check out the Reef Octopus HOB
I have a BakPak that I use on my 20 gal quarantine tank, but the load is light. I only paid $30 used, so I was not expecting much. |

Funny I tried a reef octopus and in six almost seven weeks skimmed NOTHING so I am Not a Fan even though every one raves about them. The skimmer was 2000 and on a 150 w lots of fish, never worked a turbofloter kickred its ***.

Are you talking about the pakpak with the airstone mod or are you talking about the aeroforce ap? The aeroforce is pretty decent but I haven't seen the AP version. The aeroforce is quite a bit better than the bakpak.

There are 2 versions of this now. One is driven by a venturi, the other by an airpump. I've seen the venturi version of this and it seemed to be working quite well. I'm assuming the airpump one would work well too if you keep up on maintenance. |
