Feeding nassarius

Hi all,

My tank is recently cycled though not much algae growth has occurred on glass. There's about 25 lbs of live rock in a 20g tank. I inherited a single nassarius snail -- seriously cool creature -- I make sure it gets a pellet or two of food a night as I don't have any fish. I get they're part of a clean up crew, but how much do these things need to eat?

Thanks

Hey there,

A single nassarius snail will only need maybe one or two pellets a week. Once they are surrounded by fish, they will eat whatever pieces of food the fish leave behind, as well as scavenge during the day, if they're not buried in sand.

I would simply make sure that he has a sand bed of at least 2 inches, to make him feel at home.
