Sump plumbing question

I just started my 125 up today. So far it's running perfectly but I would like to raise the water level in my return section a couple of inches. There is plenty of room in the sump. I've killed the power several times and the sump handles the excess water just fine. My return pump valve is 100% open and it is a few inches under water. Do I just add more water in the return section? This is my 1st sump.

You can add more water anywhere you like and it will increase the level in the return section.

Thanks. That makes sense but I was over thinking it. Man, it's a lot of work starting a big tank even when u finally have all the equipment!!

turn off the return wait a few minutes for the tank to drain enough that water stops going in the over flow. then fill the sump to your desired level.

Thanks for the replies. I added some water this morning and it works great now.
