Phosban Reactor Question

Can anyone tell me why when I set it up and turn it on, the carbon (which is on the bottom/gfo on top) rises up in the cannister and seems to press on the gfo so it does not tumble? Maybe I have it set up wrong, but I can't see any other way to do it.

Not sure what others may say. But i have my GFO on the bottom and carbon on the top. Also sounds like your flow is too high. Pressed to the top. I have a gentle tumble on the surface of both media. You should also have dividers between both media.

I agree, put gfo on the bottom and carbon on top. Carbon should tumble a bit more than the gfo. What type of carbon do you use? I use the brs rox - in separate reactors but still ..... all the carbon wants to rise to the top until the air settles out. I usually flush water through the reactor to rinse it then let it sit till the carbon settles to the bottom again then turn the pump back on and adjust the flow.

black diamond is fine.

OP, backwards. if you have the funds, might consider a separate reactor, or consider mixing them.

Thanks for the input. I think its primarily a flow problem as suggested. I don't use a valve to reduce pressure and will definitely do that. I guess I'll put the gfo on the bottom (I only have room for one reactor) and see how that works. In the meantime, it still works as my PO is negligable.
