34 gallons help me pick a hardy colorful fish

I own a 34 gallon tank. I have had sail fish tang and coral beauty both have died from being skinny and ick. Looking to have something non aggressive colorful and hardy. I'm afraid of having a tang and angels due to their so fragile and ick prone. All the fish I like are tangs and angels. Help me give me advice. I have now some chromis a six,ine wrasse two clowns and clown goby. I know it's fully stock but I keep the water chemistry pristine. What a hardly fish color and that likes pellets "

You are full up, my friend. I know this is not the news you were hoping for, but in a tank that size, you cannot have too many fish and especially not angels and tangs. Why not look to other ways to make your tank colorful and interesting? Try some invertebrates and colorful corals.

Please research fish requirements before adding to your tank. A 34 gallon us not remotely large enough for tangs and angels.

We can make some recommendations but will need a little information first

What kind of lighting and filtration do you use?
What are your water parameters?
What do you use for water flow?

With this information we can make suggestions on colorful corals and inverts that would do well in your tank.

Do you have a quarantine tank? If not, that should be your next purchase. Tangs are not the only fish that carry ich, and deadlier parasites. Any fish can. A QT is really a necessity, not just something to "consider sometime".

I know this thread is long, but it will give you lots of info. Also six-lines can be pretty nasty. Personally, I think your tank has enough fish. The crap you see on utube isn't something to emulate. They only have to have it set up long enough to do the video.

I added a Royal Gramma for some additional color in my BioCube 29. He's been quite peaceful, added some vivid yellow pink/purple to the tank and gets along well with my 2 Oscellaris Clowns and Starry Blenny. The Royal Gramma, in my case, is active and moves around the tank, often times hanging out in front. I have been very happy with the addition.

As you've seen, tangs do not do well in smaller tanks. You will see all sorts of things done in this world, but not all of it is a good idea nor will all of it work out well in the end. Spend a weekend evening at a local bar or attend a town/county court session one evening - you'll see all sorts of examples of things that 'seemed like a good idea at the time' but really weren't. One of the aspects of this hobby is research and learning, as you're doing. Sometimes we learn from experience, sometimes from the experience of others.

In my opinion, you need to always be critical of what you're reading/hearing and analyze the source. Is the information coming from personal experience, I once heard, generally accepted norms, etc...? How is the information presented? Reading other posts from the posters, asking how they learned the information they're sharing in conversations, etc...

Again in my opinion, how the information is presented can lend or take away credibility. Punctuation, spelling, and clear coherent thoughts are not always perfect, but you can sometimes get a sense of the posters' maturity level at least. Are they speaking in absolute terms or acknowledging there could be other ways? Again, you need to be critical (not in a bad way, but analytical). English is not everyone's first language, others are brilliant and experienced but weren't English majors.

As you do this and learn more, I think you'll find that while some things are black and white or clear cut, a lot of this hobby involves unique individual circumstances and there are many ways to accomplish a goal, all of which will work well.

Bringing this back on topic, the Royal Gramma worked well for me, and I have also been researching the possibility of adding in a peaceful, reef friendly Wrasse. I tend to browse the vividaquariums.com and liveaquaria.com websites and they have several good options there. Among the ones I'm considering are the Exquisite Fairy Wrasse and the Tricolor Fairy Wrasse. I'm not sure how they would get along with your current 6 Line Wrasse though. I'm also considering a Helfrichi Firefish. I do not have experience with these, but based on my research, they seem to be a promising fit for my tank, which is similar in size to yours.

Thanks,
Joe

How many times in a week can you ask the Same question, get an answer you don't like, and ask about it again in another thread. If your not going to listen to the answers people then why ask.

p.s. if your tang had ick then it will be in your tank and sooner or later when things stress it will show back up.
