Triggers

Hi everyone. I currently have a 38g aquarium and I love triggers. I know they need large aquariums but I was wondering if anyone knew of a variety that stayed very small.
also does nyone know any tangs that would work. Once again I know it's a long shot. Thanks for any help.

The more serious answer is that there's really no trigger or tang that will fit in that tank.

I can't see either working in a 38g unless its a QT/grow out tank for juvies. Dont both those fish get well over a foot long?

Yes, that post was a joke (probably should have had a smiley to make that clear).

Sure. You have a small tank. Look for small fish you like and that will thrive, not just survive, in your tank. You and the fish will be happier. Any trigger, and most other larger fish, will become much more aggressive in a small tank. Don't be fooled by those cute little Humas and Niger triggers at every LFS; they are real, live triggers and triggers are aggressive fish.

OK i was being sarcastic. You still could keep the fish I mentioned so long as they are babies and you put them in larger tanks when needed

Why in the world would anyone want to do that? It just goes against the grain of everything I love about our hobby; creating a small, long lasting reef environment. Why not just buy a reef video?

I hope your kidding again; people don't know when I am either.

You can keep a small Undulate Trigger for a period of time, they are very slow growers, probably one of the best looking triggers, also the meanest, so he would be the only fish in there. They also like to be in and around rock work.

I would not recommend keeping even the tiniest of triggers in a tank this small...

Filefish have the same general shape, and undulating dorsal and anal fins as triggers. And some stay quite small. How about one of those?
