What kind Of Fish Is This?

Is this a Wrasse or a Hog fish? I own this fish and want to place some wrasses in the tank with him but not sure they will get along.

Hog fish are wrasses, Labridae (Caribbean) and Bodianus (Pacific) family.

Masuda hogfish, very nice find. Generally a pretty rare fish. Around here they retail around $160.

Yes, they would be fine with other wrasses. Hogs are wrasses. Most wrasses mix quite well, with a few exceptions. I have 7 wrasses in my aquarium with no issues at all.

Cool, thanks. Most sites would say this fish is reef safe but he did attack and kill 2 cleaner shrimp in my tank. The shrimp were both in the tank before he was. I was surprised because they were in there together for about 2 weeks befre it happened. Both in the same day.

Some Wrasses seem find Cleaner Shrimp delicious. I found that out the hard way many years ago. Mine was a Hawaiian and should never have been in the tank anyway. I needed this site then!
