To Treat or Not To Treat??
I was wondering what the opinions are for medicating fish that are not displaying symptoms. I have had 3 fish in QT for 20 days now and initially treated with Parzai Pro medication for the recommended time. My next step was to treat with Cupramine but am hesitant since I have seen no visible signs of external parasites or distress. I'm not sure if its worth the stress if there is nothing there. Would I have seen the visible part of the ich life cycle already? Any advice appreciated. Thanks

I just always treat with Prazai Pro and if I don't see anything I don't medicate. I just keep a close eye on the fish in QT for 5 weeks or so if I don't see anything in the 5 weeks I feel I am safe to add the fish to the DT.

if your going to put the fish in QT and then NOT treat it properly and just hope for the best thats just silly.......dont even bother just drop and flop......the record for a tomite hatching is something like 72 days .....why not lower the salinity into hypo for those 5 weeks you are going to observe and treat it properly if you are worried about stress on a fish .....hope is no replacement for proper treatment
I like cupramine for the simple 3 week time for treatment but find seachem has an inferior measuring kit that could be easily misread, with that silly blue faded strip.....I prefer hypo with an ato setup on it and a good calibrated refraco

How should i remove the copper from the qt once im done, with carbon? I'm just not sure if any trace copper dripping from the net is bad for the display tank.

if you do use it or copper it is removed with carbon .....just use a small two little fishies reactor or drop a small bag in your hang on filter ....AND do not put your biowheel filters into your sump to maintain bio after use you will need to start them up all over again......another reason I prefer hypo as I can just wash the biowheels in the dishwasher and throw them in the sump and let them populate for the next usage
