How to prepare ht for qt

So unfortunately my clown is gone and my flame angel that I was dosimg with copper. Now I plan to empty the tank, scrub with hot water and soap and just dry it out for a few days. Would I be good to go than to setup a qt for new incoming fish?

Yes, but skip the soap and use vinegar instead. Soap leaves a nasty residue that's hard to rinse away. Vinegar is just acidic enough to get out hard water residue and most other stains, and it rinses out more easily. As for the fish that you lost, any idea what went wrong? Were you testing for copper and ammonia frequently? It might be best to figure out what happened to the last residents of the tank before adding more.

vinegar is better but you should have never used copper on angels.

After cleaning (with vinegar, not soap, as Zappo mentioned), I'd also cycle the QT before adding fish. If you don't have seeded media, then just add an ammonia source, run your filter and let nature take its course.

Alright I'll use some vinegar. I was testing for ammonia and doing every other day water changes. The Ich got treated to late, cuz I had no Lfs with cupramine around so I ordered it. It was a real PIA but I guess it's my fault for not quarantining first place. I just wanna setup the qt right way this time.
