Temp questions
Greetings - I have a 5 gal fluval edge. I have two pc lights on the tank and a power head for flow. Currently my tank lights come on at 3 pm and turn off at 1 am. During that time the temp drops to 70 but during light on gets up to 80. My question is, is this too much of a swing ? I understand that I want to stay around 80 but in nature from day to night there must be some variance in temp. Right ? Any input would be appreciated.

10 degrees F is a bit much. You might need to get a beater in there for the lights out period.

Yeah I was afraid of that. I am already unhappy with how the power head looks in there so the idea of one more peice of equipment hanging out in the tank is unappealing.

I would definitely get a heater for your setup. A 10 degree swing is too much IMO.

The heater that comes with the edge is actually very inconspicuous. It's small, black and has no dials or anything. It comes from the factory preset at 78 degrees(I think). You could pick one up at your LFS for very cheap.
