Hello,

I currently have a 30G JBJ Rimless ALL in One nano cube.

My reef rock use to be a nice purple when i had only just a Blue Damsel in my tank.

I am currently using a protein skimmer and the default pump that came with my tank.

I've recently added over the span of 3 weeks a clown fish, cleaner shrimp, a diamond spotted goby and another purple fish that ive forgotten the name of. im sorry its not a purple firefish though.

I also added two shroom corals and one frog spawn.

My CUC only consist of two scarlet hermits and my cleanershrimp and im getting this nasty film all over my rocks. i was wondering if my pump and skimmer are not up for the job or im lacking in the CUC department.

Is there anything i can do to help clear this up?

I had my water tested after adding all the fish my phosphates, nitrates and trites and ammonia are all at 0. My temperature is at 78.

if this is a newer tank then this is completly normal and as long as you keep your parameters in check and use rodi water they will go away.

I would also suggest upping your CUC, a few nass, neirte, certh and 1 turbo snail will help alot.

okay good. this was starting to really scare me. my params have been stable ever since my tank finished cycling. i had a phosphate spike but not even close to being high enough to harm my fish.

thanks for the tip for the CUC i will definitely look into it. ive been reading that scarlet hermits are usually friendly but might kill a turbo snail for its shell?

yes crabs will eat snails, they are omnivories (sp) wether it is for their shell or not. the scarletts are supposed to be the better out of the bunch and alot get by just by adding extra empty shells for them.

this is one reason I tend to stay away from crabs and stick with snails, cucumber, and a sand sifting star for my CUC.
