Emergency Equipment To Have On Hand?

I have had my aquarium running for many years with out any major problems but as my tank begins to age I start to think about what I might want to have on hand to save myself in the event of a breakdown. I have a pump that is about 6 years old so I plan on buying a backup. I should probably get a spare heater but other than that I can't think of any other equipemt that I couldn't do without for a day or two. Any suggestions?

A large food grade bin in the event your tank cracks you'll need something that can hold all your livestock until you can get it fixed.

I've been thinking the same thing and this is what I have on hand. I have two recirculating pumps so I purchased a back-up pump, an extra 250 watt lamp, a 4' replacement lamp and replacement heater I've been worried about loss of power. So I purchased a UPS that will run my recirculating pumps, protein skimmer, my apex controller (1-0f the bar 8's) and 2-48" VHO actinic lights. I also keep 30 gallons of saltwater made up at all times. I do a 30 gallons partial water change every other week.

A battery operated air pump, or several depending on tank size. Good to have for any extended power outages.

+1 or a generator... if you have a lot of time and money (livestock) invested in your tank.

^+1.

Even a cheap harbor freight generator. I've seen them for as little as $100. Most have at least that in livestock.
