Plumbing the ASM...How Imortant?

I have had an ASM 2 running for 5 years, the pump quit working so I ordered a new Sedra 5000, same pump that I had, the orginal pump had 1 inch out and this pump has a 3/4 inch out....both the same make and model of pump. The 3/4' elbow supplied isn't long enough to reach the skimmer and the orginal elbow and extension is too large to fit on the pump.

First of all does anyone know why Sedra changed the size of the outlet and second are there any cosiderations when adapting the new pump to the skimmer? In other words can I just go to the hardward store and find some pieces that work?

BTW....skimmer is in the sump.

I have a couple of the KSP5000's, the ASM uses a 1" outlet and the ER used a 3/4". You can adapt it with a 3/4x1" pvc bushing, if you can find one locally. And as you have discovered, the elbow is different, I have one of each. You need to find a good pluming place but you can make the new pump fit.

Is this the correct piece?

I bet there was already a busing on the pump that I threw out but I didn't notice it...I thought I had taken all of the pieces off but I probably missed it.

Perhaps, the spigot x slip I am not familiar with. I was thinking this...

it should be 1" slip by 3/4" slip.

There was no adapter on the old pump, the outlets are different so you did not toss a piece you needed, it is built onto the pump.
