Hello i have a alk problem

Hello my tank has been set up since June and I have a alk prob it's in the high 13 or so when I do my drip test from salfrerts it's at the top how do I lower alk to the proper level the cal mag are perfect ammonia is near zero all the time nitrate and nitrite is near zero ph is 8.2-4 what's wrong with my alk it's always so high

at 13 i wouldnt do anything. let it drop on its own. if u really have to do something just a quick water change with alk lower than urs.

Agreed + 1 let it drop on its own. It will drop faster than Ca + Mg so you should be fine to let it balance out on its own. Higher levels are acceptable as long as they do not depress the calcium level.

Not sure how it would get high on its own without help, but I would verify the Salifert results w/ another source such as LFS if possible, or with another hobbyist. High Alk can cause inverts who are sensitive to become agitated and withdraw.

Are you dosing anything for Alk / Calcium? Have you tested a fresh batch of SW before adding to the tank? Do you keep any SPS corals?

13 isnt that bad, I was at almost 14 a few months ago and it lowered a little bit each day until it got to about 9, then I started my daily supplementing to keep it at that level.

I don't douse my cal and mag rarely flux
