Algae growing on my Blueberry Sea Fan

Greetings!

Quick question...I have a plant algae (or 2) growing at the base of my Blueberry Sea Fan...

My question is can I just remove (pull off or cut away) that algae growing on the fan? I will not damage the sea fan by doing this? (Yes, I know NOT to remove the fan into the air or I will kill it, I'll do it all underwater...) And yes, I know I have red algae issues as well, sorry been gone for a week...

Any advice will be great..thanks!!
