Skimmer sizing
Is a bubble magus nac 9 curve too large for a 120 DT with 30G sump? I have come across mixed reviews. I placed an order for a nac 8 and my LFS got me the 9 curve same price.
Thanks for any opions or facts presented. |

The way I understand it. Is you never have to big of one. So if you have room for it go for it....Remember the bigger the skimmer and sump the bigger the load you can have...But then again Im a noobie and still learning....

i have heard that going 2x the rated skimmer is good if you want to stock heavily, but going way over the rating size may see problems as the skimmer won't have the bioload that it was designed for and won't skim efficiently

It all depends on your tank load and live rock. I have a 100 gallon setup (3 tanks) has no skimmer and go about 2-3 months without a water change. even after 3 months I have no nitrates, the key is a lot of live rock. But rule of thumb is about 2xs our total water gallons.
