foam wall
Is there a black paint that is safe for the tank. I would like to paint the side of the egg crate that is showing black.

Krylon Fusion once fully cured is safe to use. But you have to make sure you give it plenty of time to cure so it will adhere strongly enough to the egg crate. If not it will peel off over a bit of time once the tank is filled with water.

I bought a brown and light tan krylon fusion and painted the whole thing with some white for highlights. Looked uniform and really nice. I also sprinkled sand on as the paint was wet for texture and just kept blending. nobody could tell the difference between rock and foam. Also take a utility knife and stab and pop out chunks in the foam. Keep hacking at it and it'll be the exact texture add the rock you have. I probably took 50% of it off carving it, it'll give you more depth too.

Just skip it.
The white stands out now but in a year with corals and coralline algae present you won't see it. |
