Green Star Polyps - care
I just got a few today and glued them to the rocks .What should I know in order to provide excellent parameters for this coral?

They are amongst the hardiest and most aggressive (as far as spreading) corals in the trade. It is a good idea to place them on a single rock "island" separated from your other rocks to keep it from overrunning your tank. Ideally it does like light light and water flow, but it will grow in medium to lower light and in lower flow areas.

TheGrun..thanks for the reply.the tank is 25 inches tall..i put them in the middle towards the top..lighting isnt that great...marineland reef LED's..you say they like not so much light and flow?If I have to isolate them on a rock that will have to be on the sand.Isnt that kinda far from light ?I can adjust flow though but not the light. What do you suggest?

I have some myself , on a single rock and they are spreading ...Slowly but surely...
They seem to be doing fine where I have them... But, will eventually have to move them when i see them over take the rock they are currently on... Because, i have some coral nearby I do not want to collide with one another |

Ack! Like Xenia, GSP are weeds that will overtake a tank, if you're not careful.

I love the look of a few GSP. But like mentioned above. Keep them isolated on their own rock island on the sand so you can keep them from growing everywhere! They are fast and easy growers. Very hard to kill!
once it spreads to the sand you can easily tear off the section and share with others or take to LFS! |

i like that GSP tank above. If i had a dedicated system, i would definitely allow that type of growth.
As others have stated, it does grow aggressively and doesnt die easily. Just be mindful of that going in to it. It is a very nice looking coral. Try and find the electric green. Much more vibrant than the regular GSP.

thanks everyone for the advice .they started to come to life today but theyre far from being fully opened.I see patches here and there opened up and some are a much nicer green than the others.I isolated them on a rock on the bottom in the middle of the tank..
Will they open up even more in the next few days or they just dont like the current and light? I would say the current is decent i didnt point the powerheads directly at them but they def get some movement.Should I move them up higher like on a higher rock? Thanks everyone this is my first coral and i understand some of you hate it but im just excited to see it open.Deal with the consequences later lol |

I noticed that my GSP fully expand 30 min after I turn on the light but after 6 hours of light...theyre closing in even though the light is still on.What is this behavior? Thanks
