Refugium question please enlighten me

So I recently added about 2000 co-pods/arthropods in my refugium. I have many live rock on the sides in the refugium against the baffle. Also i have rougly about 30 oyster shells in refugium spread through out(we had a huge oyster grill one night about a year ago). I have the oysters basicly holding up my pump levling out my skimmer and few scatter through out. I have about 15 in between the 3 baffles where the water goes into my return pump. here is the question.

1. Is there any con with so many oyster shells in refugium?
2. Is there any con with stuff bettween the baffles(oystershells dead corals live rubble)?

Also important note THERE IS A TON A TON of amphipods in the lower part of the three baffles underneath the oyster shells is that a good thing or not? i assume it is as they are feeding off the yuck accumlating there.

the only thin i can think of is low flow in some spots. but you would get that with any sort of live rock. in addition i dont think you would get as good of a home for bacteria and such as it isnt really porous. but i bet the pods love all the nooks and shelfs.

The pods will eat detritus and algae, feed fish and are awesome tank inhabitants.. more the merrier.

I dont think there is a huge problem with the shells, but I did read once in a book that shells can leech phosphates as they wear over time. How much they leech is probably negligible, but something to think about.
